Being registered is a one step process and no complications should arise. For children to be able to study in Spain they must have what is called empadronado. To become registered with your local town hall in Spain all you have to do is go to the town hall and ask for the form empadronarse fill out this form with your details such as:

• Name
• Place of Birth
• Parent's Names
• Your Age
• Address
• Marital Status

Return this form along with a copy of your passport (also present the original). A copy of a utility bill may also be required such as an electricity bill, water bill. A telephone bill is not usually acceptable.

By registering with the town hall, a more accurate estimate of the local population is given which is reflected in the services that the government funds in each area. It is a good idea to keep this document in a special place, as you will need this from time to time.
